“ The food is good and fresh. I like that different regions are represented. The service is hit or miss. The staff is generally fine. ”
“ 4.5 stars I used to love the deep fried pompano but didn't like it the last two times. I was losing my preference but my preference was renewed by my recent visit. I had lunch with 2 Thai friends and that made a difference in what we ordered. We had the usual reliable and good papaya salad and eggplants. Two new dishes that I tried were nam kao todd and pladuk pad ped. Love the crispy catfish. I would come back for that. That will be my new go-to dish. Yum! ”
“ The parking for me was a bit confusing and so small, I couldn't tell which establishment was the restaurant at first. What I loved most about this place was how sweet the lady who served me was. She had such a warm personality and kind smile. The layout was interesting. You can see people preparing food. I ordered the fish and absolutely destroyed it. The sauce was delicious but I didn't use it at all since I just ate the fish with sticky rice and papaya salad. The papaya salad wasn't quite to my tastes (I prefer more fermented flavors/lao style) but it wasn't bad. It was extra spicy just the way I like, though! ”
“ Really delicious pad Thai and ground chicken spicy basil leaves! Although I do admit the fried chicken wontons were incredibly underwhelming due to the insufficient amount of chicken stuffing it had In them. Other than that the meal was perfection. ”
“ Food and service on point, my Thai wife approves. The seafood salad was plentiful, the tamarind sauce that comes with the beef jerky was off the chain. I even drank a little of it. Very nice lighting, not too bright but still great visibility. ”
“ This review is for the food only as we ordered to go. We did see the ambience but it was mid day on a weekday so it was pretty slow. We ordered 3 dishes including the yellow curry ,the silver noodle salad and the pad see eww. We also ordered a side of fried rice. The silver noodle salad was tasty and fresh. The star of the show was the pad see eww. We ordered it without meat and it was fantastic. The fried rice and curry were slightly above average but nothing special. The restaurant appeared to be family run and super close to CSUN! ”
“ This is for delivery only: We ordered the mussman curry, yellow curry, silver noodle salad, and veggie tom yum. The order arrive quickly and was hot. The silver noodle salad was okay. There were a lot of noodles, but hardly any veggies. The yellow curry was okay. The flavor was on the bland side, but there were a lot of veggies, tofu, and it came with rice. My favorite was the mussman curry. The beef was so tender and it was loaded with veggies. It also came with rice. The pricing was reasonable as well. Definitely a change from over ten years ago. ”
“ Especially delicious Thai joint. This is a Thai select spot so you're in good hands. The Lum-Ka-Naad menu is eclectic to say the least. My girlfriend and I spent at least 10 minutes going through their chapters of selection. I liked that they had organized the menu using the regionally popular dishes from Thailand. The service was so quick, friendly, and warm. I enjoyed the dim lighting, dark wooden furniture and their postings on the wall of some insight on the restaurant's history. Our meals were ready within about 10-15 minutes after ordering. My favorite entree was the duck noodle soup, i think the portion was very good. Their broth was delicious and savory. Excellent choice for a soup lover. One thing my girlfriend loved was the garlic fish. It was served nice and crispy with a hefty amount of protein. The bites were savory crunchy and even better with the green sauce, it was very similar to some salsa verde. Amazing restaurant was excellent dishes, staff and history. I was a bit turned off by having to pay extra for white rice considering their entree prices are on the higher average range but still worth a visit!! ”
“ Came here on a Wednesday around 8 pm. We parked in the very tiny lot in the alley behind the restaurant but there are also a few parking spots on the street. We were greeted and seated immediately. There were also 5 other groups of 2 eating. The inside is a warm burgundy and has warm wooden features. There's a bar, small tv, and a good view of the kitchen. We asked our server for some of her favorites and we ended up ordering a large Thai tea with no ice, the duck noodle soup (medium spicy), crispy fish with garlic, and kuah gling with beef (medium spicy). The food doesn't automatically come with rice but we decided not to get any. While we waited, I looked at their awards and news clippings on the wall. This place has been around for a while and has thai select recognition. The food was ready very quickly. We finished the kuah gling quickly. It was a smaller portion than I was expecting but it was delicious. There were slices of tender beef with a thick and salty curry sauce and it was served with 4 slices of cucumber and a small wedge of lettuce. The flavor was great. It was spicy but not too spicy for me, pretty hot for my boyfriend though whose tongue needed time to recover before tasting the other dishes. The duck noodle soup was just as I expected, very rich broth. It was a large portion, with plenty of noodles and a decent amount of duck slices. I love duck noodle soup! However, I didn't think this was spicy at all and my boyfriend agreed. I'm not sure if they ended up making it medium spicy because it was nowhere near close to the spice level of the curry. The fried fish was delicious! The skin was crispy as was the meat around the cut marks made by the chef. The fried garlic added a lot of flavor but the best flavor came from the seafood sauce. The fish meat behind the intact skin was super tender and juicy. I definitely want to try recreating this sometime. We had to remind our server of our Thai tea and she immediately went to get it. It was a very large bottle. Definitely on the sweeter side without ice. We took half of it home to add a little more milk. But just like any good Thai tea for sure. Great Thai spot in the valley! Would definitely return. My favorite Thai select restaurant in LA ever? No, but worth coming to if you're by it. ”
